WABX to the Max 2025!

WABX to the Max 2025!

WABX to the Max 2025 lived up to its name, bringing together students, families, and the wider community for an unforgettable celebration of sports and the arts. Stretching over what felt like weeks of pure excitement, this year’s WABX to the MAX showcased the energy, talent, and spirit of our WAB community.

For the first time, the event spread across 8 days. From the Opening Night Kickoff, when students ran through the Tiger Tunnel to smoke machines and cheers from the stands, the tone was set for a week filled with connection and celebration. Over 400 fans filled the bleachers during the course of the event, cheering on a dynamic lineup of activities that ranged from volleyball tournaments, soccer showcases, and baseball under the lights to dance exchanges, cross country and community runs, and tennis matches. It was a week where every student had the chance to perform, compete and be supported.

WABX to the MAX is more than just a week of games, it’s about building community. By spreading the spirit days and events across 8 days this year, our students had the chance not only to play, but also to truly support one another. They learned from watching, they celebrated great plays, and they discovered the value of showing up for each other. That’s what makes this such a powerful learning experience: it’s competition, but it’s also character, connection, and school spirit all rolled into one,” Kirby Boychuk, Athletics & Activities Director

The spirit of sportsmanship was on full display when our Varsity Boys Volleyball team won the Tri-Cities Tournament in Shanghai. Shanghai American School Pudong Athletic Director praised how gracious, thankful, and respectful our WAB athletes were throughout the event, — well done, team, a win in every sense.

While the highlights were many, perhaps the biggest takeaway was the way students supported one another. The learning didn’t just happen on the courts or fields, it happened in the stands, as students cheered, celebrated, and lifted each other up.

From the opening serve to the final cheer, WABX to the Max once again reminded us of the power of sportsmanship, artistry, and community spirit. Whether you competed, performed, or simply came out to support, you were part of something bigger, an event that celebrates not only what our students can do, but who they are becoming together.

Here’s to another incredible year of teamwork and Tiger spirit!
