WAB Podcast | The Insight: A Student‑Built “Marketplace for Ideas”

In this week’s episode of the WAB Podcast, Grade 11 student Christian shares how he is working on The Insight: a student‑created website and podcast designed to give classmates better access to real‑world information and resources.
Christian describes The Insight as a “marketplace for ideas,” built to give students more of the information they need to make informed choices about subjects, internships and future pathways. The idea took shape after WAB’s annual Career Fair, where Christian realized that being in one session meant missing out on others.

“I wanted a way for students to revisit those conversations, or hear from even more professionals beyond just one day,” he explains in the episode.
With no prior coding experience, Christian taught himself how to build the site using online tutorials and AI tools and worked with friends to iterate on the design. He is working on:
-
Podcast interviews with professionals, parents and teachers
-
A publishing space for student‑written articles and research
-
Curated resource lists for fields like economics, investment banking and research
Christian also talks about how his own Grade 10 internship motivated him to create episodes that help younger students make the most of their World of Work experience. Upcoming conversations include advice on internships, networking and preparing for the IB, as well as a WAB workshop in June for students interested in research and DP readiness.

Throughout the episode, he highlights the role of WAB teachers and the IB programme in supporting his journey, from sharing study strategies to offering feedback on design, marketing and next steps.
