Students Showcase Their Learning at WAB's Student-Led Conferences

The Elementary School buzzed with excitement on April 17, as students from Early Years to Grade 4 stepped into the spotlight for WAB's Student-Led Conferences. On this day, our young learners were in charge.

"It’s a day for students to take ownership of their learning," explained Elementary School Principal Catherine Pierre-Louis, and added they share not just their successes, but their challenges and growth too.

Classrooms were interactive stations where young learners guided their parents through projects, games, and reflections, as if they were in the role of "teachers". Elementary School student Jessica shared, "I asked my dad questions. It was fun showing him how I learn."

For parents, the experience was equally meaningful. One parent commented that this would not be something they do at home, and "It's a very good experience" for her. Student-led conferences not only celebrate academic progress but also foster communication, confidence, and family connection.

By leading the conversation, students develop a deeper sense of responsibility and pride in their learning. They also practiced leadership skills while parents gained insights into their child's daily life.

To see how ownership and communication empower our learners, and hear how our students and parents feel about the Student-Led Conference, watch the video above!
