WAB's Second Annual Gong-He Golf Tournament

WAB's Second Annual Gong-He Golf Tournament

76 golfers, including WAB teachers, parents, students, and alumni took to the fairways of Beijing Orient Tianxing Golf Club this past weekend for the second annual WAB Gong-He Cup, our community golf tournament hosted by Chinese Link, with support from WABX.

Played as a two-person scramble, where partners choose their best shot and play on from there, the format kept things fast, friendly, and just competitive enough, with golfers ranging from Elementary School students to seasoned players.

Grade 11 student Victoria L, winner of the 2026 Orient Masters Beijing Women's Open, and ranked 20th in the women’s world amateur rankings and one of China’s highest‑ranked female amateur golf players (According to the latest WAGR World Amateur Golf Ranking (as of September 23,  2026), was also among the golfers taking part. “I'm really thrilled to be here today, representing WAB and playing alongside our Tiger athletes and coaches” Victoria said. Victoria has been a student at WAB since kindergarten. This was her first time joining the community golf tournament. "It didn’t feel like a competition — it felt like coming home.”

First place went to a father-daughter team from Grade 5 (Catrina and Yue W), while second place was claimed by WABX’s Caleb Liu and Grade 11 student Victoria L. Third place went to a pair of Grade 6 twin siblings (Cindy and Eric W), and fourth to a grandfather-grandson team (Jerry and Cao Q), the grandson, our youngest participant at just six years old, drew the biggest cheer of the ceremony when he came up to collect his award, having outplayed many of the adults on the course. Awards were also handed out for best dressed and best Tiger spirit.

A huge thanks to hosts Chinese Link, along with WABX, Parent Link, Tiger Spirit and Tiger Den, and Korean Link, plus the parent, alumni, and WAB faculty and staff, and sponsors whose contributions covered everything from photography to participants' gift bags. True to the tournament's spirit, any remaining funds from the event goes straight to supporting WAB's Golf Club and Golf Team.

Falling on Mid-Autumn Festival, was a great opportunity for the WAB community to spend some time together: parents, grandparents, and kids sharing a day of sport. Congratulations to everyone who played!
