WAB Podcast | Student Takeover! Meet our new MYP Coordinator, Rebekah Hommel

In this week's episode of the WAB Podcast, Grade 8 students Hugh and Emma sat down with Ms. Rebekah, WAB’s new Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator.

Ms. Rebekah brings over 20 years of international teaching experience and a deep passion for the IB framework. In this conversation, she shares what drew her to WAB, from the school’s unique architecture and community spirit to the opportunities she sees for her own family. She also dives into her role as the MYP Coordinator in connecting curriculum, fostering inquiry, and helping students see the “big ideas” behind their learning.

Hugh and Emma brought their own perspectives into the mix, asking thoughtful questions about what an MYP Coordinator actually does, how Day 9 could expand to include more in-depth and future-focused workshops, and even sharing what kinds of activities they’d design themselves, from games like Werewolf to sports rotations that build new friendships. The students also kept it light with fun questions about musicals, hobbies, and favorite foods.
