Weekend of Joy: Jazz and Chill, Fun Fair and Rock in the Park

Weekend of Joy: Jazz and Chill, Fun Fair and Rock in the Park

At WAB, community comes to life in moments of shared joy and this past weekend was full of them.

We began on Friday evening with Jazz & Chill and the Identity Film Festival Celebration. From live performances by our Middle and High School Jazz Bands and guest musicians to an outdoor showcase of student-produced films, the evening celebrated student voice, artistry, and identity in all its forms.

The energy carried into Saturday with our Elementary School Fun Fair. With the support of 21 sponsors and a huge range of games run by dedicated volunteers, Tiger Field transformed into a vibrant playground. Water games quickly became the favorite on the hot afternoon, while student performances, hands-on activities, and food vendors added to the fun.

We also welcomed alumni back to campus for the Class of 2016’s 10-year reunion and our annual Homecoming reunion, strengthening the bonds that make WAB a lifelong community.

As the day turned to evening, the celebration continued with Rock in the Park. Across three stages in WAB’s Peace Park and the HUB Link, performances ranged from student bands, acoustic groups, parent performances, and dance groups. As always, the final song, featuring students, alumni, teachers, and staff altogether, captured the spirit of WAB in one shared moment.

The theme of Rock in the Park this year was “Humanity” highlighting sustainability, meaningful action, and community partnership. Throughout the afternoon and evening, 35 student clubs, including Global Citizenship in Action initiatives, joined 28 sponsors and vendors to create a vibrant, purpose-driven festival.

Student booths showcased community engagement, advocacy, and action projects developed throughout the year, inviting visitors to take part in hands-on activities, explore local and global issues, and celebrate student-led impact. Supported by Chinese Link and CARE Link, student work was recognized through a range of awards, highlighting the power of youth-driven change.
