Tigers Shine Across Athletics and Robotics

Tigers Shine Across Athletics and Robotics

WAB Tigers have been shining across athletics and robotics, with student teams earning strong results in badminton, soccer, softball, and the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego League competition.

At the Tri-Cities tournament, hosted on campus, WAB athletes turned home court and home field advantage into an impressive showing. In badminton, Tigers athletes climbed the podium in every event. Girls’ Singles finished 3rd, while Boys’ Singles captured 1st place. Boys’ Doubles teams finished 1st and 2nd, and Mixed Doubles pairs matched that success with 1st and 2nd place finishes as well.

Those strong results carried through to the team standings, where WAB secured both the Girls’ and Boys’ overall team titles in badminton. On the soccer pitch, the Tigers kept the momentum going, with both the girls’ and boys’ teams finishing in 1st place. Throughout the tournament, our student-athletes showed not only skill but also sportsmanship, teamwork, and support for one another. WAB also celebrated success in softball, where the girls’ team competed at China Cup at Shanghai American School Puxi and placed 2nd.

Success also extended beyond the athletic fields at the ACAMIS North FIRST Lego League Robotics Competition, as WAB Middle School teams delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home multiple awards across several categories. Team Plutonium was named the 2026 ACAMIS North Champion, earning top honors for excellence in robot performance, robot design and innovation. The team also received the Innovation Project Award and the Robot Performance Gold Award after achieving the highest robot game score of the tournament with an impressive 280 points.

Team APSSA earned the Core Values Award, recognized for their teamwork and support of others. Team Athletes secured the Robot Performance Silver Award with the second-highest robot game score of the competition, while Team JASS received the Motivate Award for their enthusiasm and positive energy throughout the event.

All four WAB robotics teams finished in the top nine qualifying spots and will now advance to the ACAMIS National FIRST Lego League Robotics Competition at Shanghai American School Pudong in April.

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes, robotics team members, coaches, mentors and supportive parents on these achievements.
