WAB Shortlisted for Two International School Awards

The Western Academy of Beijing community is once again being recognized for its excellence in education and world-class school experience.

Our school has been shortlisted to win two International School Awards hosted by International School Leader. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in January.

WAB has been shortlisted in two of the twelve categories: Strategic Leadership Initiative and Teaching Initiative.

Our school's nomination for the Strategic Leadership Initiative was based on our community-wide, whole-school journey to transform education in a way that will maximize learning for each individual student at WAB. The Future of Learning at WAB, known as FLoW21, has become increasingly recognized around the globe and now nominated for an award as a leading voice in the industry-wide call to update, reimagine, and innovate our teaching and learning philosophies and practices.

You may remember reading a story about our Grade 7 students co-creating their own individual schedules throughout the entire month of March 2018. Teachers worked together to create an online system that helped manage schedules, track progress, offer feedback, and create a forum for communication. The initiative also relied heavily on mentorship groupings, flexible time and spaces, and students'' development of soft-skills like communication, collaboration, time management, and forward planning.

We'd like to thank all of the members of our supportive and trusting school community who have made it possible for our experienced faculty and staff to create such valuable, exceptional opportunities for our learners.

Stay tuned to find out if WAB will bring home any awards from the ceremony in January.
