Parents Ask, We Answer: FLoW21 & IB Diploma Programme

This blog post is in response to a parent-submitted question through the "Ask About FLoW21" page on our website. Have a question you want us to answer? Submit it here.

What happens when a student enters the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and how will WAB ensure that all students taking the IB exams will still graduate with good results with FLoW21 in place? Or in other words, how is FLoW21 going to match up to the requirements of the IB exams?

With the improvements brought about with FLoW21, we will see students' IBDP scores rise.

Our IBDP teachers are critically involved in the decisions made regarding the transformation of learning at WAB, and they bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and expertise about how students can excel in the Diploma Programme.

Improvements will allow for more personalized and tailored learning according to each individual students' needs. We know every student has different strengths and needs. Using time to support each students' learning allows individual students to focus on the areas in which they need help to succeed.

The goal is to make sure that each child is prepared in the best way for him or her to succeed in the DP exam and develop the long-term skills necessary to flourish beyond high school graduation.

Flexibility in daily timetables allows for additional levels of one-on-one support and direct instruction, and access to a team of teachers (versus just one) will all contribute to the students' enhanced learning.

More generally, FLoW21 is designed to improve upon WAB's already excellent educational practices. Teaching and learning methods will continue to improve to maximize each individual student's potential, replacing outdated one-size-fits-all models with evidence-based practices proven to optimize how we learn.
