Curriculum Committee Focuses on Target 9

WAB's FLoW21 Curriculum Committee started its December 7 meeting with a presentation to define and better understand Target 9: Transdisciplinary, Interdisciplinary and Multi-Disciplinary Learning. Discussion surrounded the three terms used in the wording of the target and how they relate to our three programs of study: the IB Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme.

Following this discussion, the committee examined course offerings from a school in Australia that offers a wide range of options for students' paths through the curriculum over five years, including vocational options, alternate schedule times and miniature qualifications. They drew comparisons and contrasts to initiatives at WAB.

The Curriculum Committee laid out a couple of goals to accomplish prior to the group's next meeting. One is to look over relevant resources/case studies and pick one to read and analyze with comments. Some members will also formulate ideas around what a day in the life of a student from their school section would look like with all of FLoW21 curriculum targets in place.
