WAB Set to Showcase Teaching Practices on Global Stage

A panel of Grade 3 and 5 teachers will host a virtual booth at the 2022 The Inquiry Educators Summit March 10-13.

The group received an invitation to join the platform, which offers a platform for shortlisted schools to showcase and share their inquiry practices with a global audience of progressive schools. The conference host, the Toddle learning application, defines inquiry as learning which emphasizes the learner’s role in the process, is purposeful, and empowers students to investigate. WAB’s delivery of the IB Primary Years Programme, and specifically the Grade 3 learning community and Grade 5 math community models, have garnered significant international interest in the area of inquiry-based learning.

"I am honored to work at a school that approaches teaching and learning with such a caring, learner-centered philosophy,” WAB’s Head of EdTech and IT Kevin Crouch said. “I am grateful to the Grade 3 and 5 teachers for putting themselves out there to share our practice with the world. There is tremendous interest from other schools in how we are achieving the vision of learning communities. It is mostly thanks to the incredible work of our teachers and students, and Toddle has been instrumental in helping us achieve that as well.”

WAB educators will be attending the event’s pre-conference Connect sessions March 5-6 followed by the Learn section featuring their showcase booth March 10-13.

"The single most important goal of a school to deliver great learning to students and in WABs submission shows how powerful their implementation of a community-driven learning model is and the impact it can potentially have on student learning. What stood out was how all the practices have been cohesively thought through for the implementation of community learning," Toddle Co-Founder and COO Misbah Jafary said. "The footages from the school show how organic, free-flowing things are. Students taking responsibility for their learning, talking about understand-practice-confirm-apply brings out the successful implementation. Personally, just watching the video triggered so many ideas - I would love for an opportunity to spend some time at the school soaking in the implementation."
