WAB Coaches Certified in First-ever Remote ASCTA Course

WAB teachers and coaches have received a prestigious swimming certification, after completing the Australian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association’s first online class.

The ASCTA held their first remote course exclusively for WAB’s PE & Aquatics Departments and certified 21 WAB coaches from eight countries as Swim Australia Teachers.

The course provides WAB staff with the latest skills and knowledge to teach water safety and learn to swim lessons to beginner swimmers of all ages,” said Donald Watson-Brown, WAB’s Head of Aquatics. “This knowledge will be passed down to WAB students, offering them the chance to learn a skill for life, which unlocks many social, recreational, sporting, and fitness opportunities.”

The WAB community is made up of students from more than 50 nations, and swimming forms an important part of our school’s physical education curriculum and extracurricular programs. The coaches who have completed the course will have an added level of confidence from being equipped with the world’s leading safety and development knowledge and skills.

According to the ASCTA website, the organization and Swim Australia are “dedicated to developing world leading practises in the education, accreditation, professional development and ongoing support for swimming Coaches and swimming and water safety Teachers, as well as developing and empowering our swim school network through the delivery of world’s best practice guidelines, professional development programs, growth opportunities and business support.”
