The Story Behind the Score: WAB Grad Explains her DP Experience

Administered at the end of the Grade 12 school year, The IB Diploma Programme exams are widely known for their rigor and their reward.

At WAB, students have a history of scoring exceptionally well on the DP, and in that regard, this year was no different. WAB's Class of 2021 scored 3 points higher than the world average. They achieved significantly higher results in a wide range of individual subjects, like mathematics, Mandarin, physics, film, biology, literature, and beyond. More than 20 percent of our students scored more than 40 out of a possible 45 points. More than 22 students earned a bilingual diploma, and two-thirds of graduates received bonus points on the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge -- elements known as the core of the DP.

As important as the DP results are and as much attention as the scores receive on school websites and profiles, the truth is that success in the Diploma Programme is defined by much more that a single score or set of statistics. That is precisely the story we are telling on today's episode of The WAB Podcast: The Story Behind the Score.

Join the conversation, as WAB Alumna Imme Koolenbrander sits down with WAB DP Coordinator Scott Lindner to discuss the student experience, personalized definitions of success, and the value of knowing yourself as a learner.

Once again, a huge congratulations to WAB's Class of 2021 for their exam results and achievements throughout their years at WAB! Find more information in WAB's High School Profile here.
