WAB's 2020 TEDx Youth event has been published on the official TEDx platform for a global audience.
The event held earlier this school year featured presentations from several WAB students, covering a wide range of topics, including the future of genome editing and the dangers of gender stereotyping.
"WAB’s mission coincides with that of TEDx: to inspire and share ideas in order to make a difference," Grade 12 student and event organizer Katarina K. said.
Speakers ranged in age from Grade 6 to Grade 12. The complete list of students and topics are now available here:
- Izzy D. on "The Dark Side of Gender Stereotypes"
- Elliot L. on "The Schoolwork Dilemma"
- Billy Z. on "Inside the Mind of a Perfectionist"
- Eric L. on "The Adaptations of the Music Industry during COVID-19"
- Jayo J. on "Avoiding the Grey Zone & Embracing Challenge"
- Stella D. on "The Future of Genome Editing"
- Jeremy A. on "Economic Response to COVID-19"
- Linah R. on "Moving Away and Adapting"
- Clara N. on "My Transition to Middle School"
"All of the students who participated had a passion, and they shared a common dedication to the event and what it stands for. Individuality was clearly reflected in the variety of speeches that are now available to a global audience."
Due to campus health and safety measures, the 2020 organizing committee faced unique challenges to hosting a hybrid event. The videos of this year's presentations join a collection of WAB student TEDx Talks dating back to as far as 2014.
