Media Mentor Month & WAB's Approach to Digital Citizenship

Technology has been penetrating all aspects of our lives for years, but the rate at which we are using our devices for every day tasks has sped up exponentially with remote learning and working.

On today's episode of The WAB Podcast, we’re joined by two of WAB's tech experts, Kevin Crouch and Keri-Lee Beasley, who discuss the best strategies for parents to support their children’s healthy, safe, and productive use of technology.

“Digital doesn't have to only mean distractions and all the bad things that you think about humanity," WAB EdTech and Learning Coach Keri-Lee said. "It can also mean being informed, it can mean taking action on causes, you can share your voice with the world."

During this conversation, we also discuss the fifth year of Keri-Lee’s worldwide initiative, Media Mentor Month, which, during the month of March, seeks to bring resources, conversations, and tools into the spotlight for students, teachers, and parents.

"A lot of the assumptions that you might have about what [children] are doing with their devices are simply not true," Kevin Crouch, WAB's Head of EdTech said. "You might find that they're doing amazing things with their devices and time that they just don't feel comfortable sharing. So have those exploratory conversations."
