Where is she now?

Gabriela attended Teesside University, in the UK, where she completed a BA in Computer Animation, and an MA in Computer Animation and Visual Effects with top marks. She recently received an offer to work for the Moving Picture Company in Vancouver as one of their Artists.

How did WAB influence her career choice?

During my time at WAB an Artist from Dreamworks came to talk about his work on the movie Shrek. It was exciting and inspiring, but my mind was soon cluttered with other things as my family had to move back to Germany. After finishing my IB Diploma and graduating from High School at the Bavarian International School, I still hadn't decided what to do. Therefore, I took a gap year and completed an 8-month internship at a small company making visuals for commercials and other projects, and really enjoyed it. Remembering that talk at WAB many years before, I then decided to look into Computer Animation Courses, and eventually chose to enroll at Teesside University, in the UK. Their course was exactly what I was looking for!

Gabriela's tip

It is not easy deciding what you want to do for the rest of your life, but you should chose something you enjoy doing. It doesn't matter how much you know about a subject now, but how much effort you are willing to put in to learn more about it, to practice and hone your skills. I absolutely love making digital art and will spend hours learning a new piece of software, or getting a simulation to behave just the right way. So for all of you graduating soon, pick a subject you are passionate about and are willing to spend hours working on. It will make your work that much better. Good luck!
